External Grants
Seeking funding for scholarly activities can be overwhelming but the Office of Research (OR) is available to assist faculty, staff, and students throughout the process. The following resources will serve as a starting place:

The Office of Research (OR) encourages grant-seekers to contact our office as soon as they know they want to apply for a grant. The sooner we know, the more we can help!
All grants are required to come through the OR. For a federal grant, the PI is expected to upload the documentation into the submission portal, and OR will review the documents and submit the proposal.
15 working days before your grant is due OR must have:
- Grants proposal form (under resources)
- Final budget and budget justification
- At least a rough draft narrative
- Any documentation needing a signature
- Supporting documentation for any matching fund commitments, if needed
- Completed contractual services form if grant funds will pay for anyone not on the FHSU payroll
- Any documentation needing a signature
- Supporting documentation for any matching fund commitments, if needed
- IRB/IACUC approval (if grant guidelines dictate it must be done before applying)
30 working days or more before your grant is due, OR can help with:
- Budget development/review
- Narrative development/review
- Assist with securing commitment documentation for required matching funds
- Connect you with grant consultants who can provide more in-depth assistance.

Funding opportunities are made available by federal, state, foundation, and corporate organizations. The Office of Research receives information on upcoming funding opportunities but you can explore using Pivot-RP.
Pivot-RP: FHSU has a subscription to Pivot-RP, the world’s largest database of sponsored funding opportunities. Pivot-RP is a comprehensive, searchable database of funding opportunities for research projects across all disciplines. It's a powerful tool that helps researchers, faculty, and institutions find and apply for grants, fellowships, and other funding sources from various sponsors, including federal, non-federal, and international organizations. Faculty and Staff are encouraged to make a profile.
